PORT NOARLUNGA

Port Noarlunga is Adelaide's closest iconic dive site and is suitable for all levels of divers. The reef runs in a North- South direction that is parallel to the shore line and is broken into two sections. The break in the reef is known as "the gap" and acts as a passageway to the inner and outer sides of the reef.

The reef has an underwater pathway consisting of 12 markers starting at 1 next to the jetty and ending at 12 on the outside of the reed adjacent to the jetty. Depths range from 3m next to the jetty to 18m west of the gap.

Despite looking man made, the Port Noarlunga Reef is actually natural. Over 6000 years ago, the Onkaparinga River met the ocean at this point with the river mouth flowing through a gorge which now forms "the gap".
